Blackbird Book

This book originated as an assignment in a typography class I took in 2021. Over the course of the quarter, our class focused on a single project: we were asked to choose a song that holds personal meaning and, each week, create an album cover for it based on various typography challenges. By the end of the assignment, I had designed 40 different covers. In addition to those, we also put together elements like a table of contents and both a front and back cover for the book.

I chose “Blackbird” by The Beatles, a song that was especially meaningful to my grandma—it was her favorite. While I was working on this book, she was placed on hospice care due to end-stage cancer. Thankfully, I was able to share the finished book with her before she passed away. Now, this book serves as a lasting reminder of both her and that significant time in my life.

For this project and the overall book layout, I used almost entirely Adobe InDesign, with the occasional use of Photoshop.
